GAMMA.CON comes to Wagga Wagga!
GAMMA.CON is the largest pop culture festival in Southern NSW and in 2018 we are expanding with a new event in Wagga that will bring the best of pop culture to the Riverina region and give residence a place to explore and engage in everything popular culture has to offer.
What is pop culture? Defined as ‘images, ideas and concepts of the mainstream’ it is a catch all term for all the entertainment mediums, hobbies and industries that make up the modern Australian landscape of what we see, read and play. GAMMA.CON takes these concepts and condenses them into one awesome event that is fun and exciting no matter your age, gender or participation level.
GAMMA.CON will run 10 am to 5:30 pm on the 17th of March at the Kyeamba Smith Hall at the Wagga Wagga Showgrounds (31 Bourke Street Wagga Wagga). Tickets are $15.00 and are available online now at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/gammacon-wagga-wagga-tickets-41641089620 and will also be available at the door. Children under 7 free with a paying adult!
GAMMA @Night is an 18+ event that will run after GAMMA.CON from 6pm at Kyeamba Smith Hall. All age restrictions will come off the screenings, video games and merchandise. Best of all we will be serving beer, wine and custom nerdy cocktails so you can enjoy a few drinks while you kick butt in violent video games!
Sausage Sizzle and BBQ 12:00 – 1:00
When you get hungry we will have a sausage sizzle and BBQ set up to satisfy your ravenous hunger with cold drinks also available.
Special Guest – Hayley Elise
Hayley is a Sydney cosplayer that has been making costumes and attending cons for years. She has a successful cosplay page (https://www.facebook.com/HayleyEliseCosplay/) that has nearly 40,000 likes and has worked with many professional photographers around Australia.
When she is not embodying her favorite fantasy characters Hayley is a professional writer for the popular websites Gizmodo and Kotaku and continually has her finger on the pop culture pulse of Australia.
Over the weekend Hayley will be hosting two panels; one on video game and pop culture journalism and one on Cosplay as well as judging The Hero Studio Cosplay Competition. When she is not busy with that she will have a stall on the show floor where you can meet and talk with her and buy some of her cosplay merchandise and prints.
Vendors and Artists
We have gathered vendors from around Australia to come and set up small shops for attendees to buy merchandise such as figures, comics, books, collectables and clothing.
Artists will also be on hand doing commissions and selling prints of their one of a kind artwork.
